Arch you glad?

When it came to our kitchen, dining room and living room renovation I wanted to incorporate unique yet timeless touches. One feature I couldnt get out of my head were arches! We added an arched doorway from the main part of the house to the hall and bedrooms. We also added arches that were framed into the walls on both sides of our TV and fireplace in place of the built in shelving that were there initially. We love love love how it all came out! The arches add dimension and a sculpture-esque feel to our Modern Eichler.

In fact, arches span all the way back to the 2nd Millenium BC in Mesopotamia and have since, seen many architectural iterations throughout design movements across history. I personally loved them because they reminded me of modern spanish style homes in Santa Barbara, CA that I absolutely adore.

If your wondering if you should add an arch, I say “do it!”. They are a unique design feature that just wont go out of style.
